Ozark Pudding

This Ozark pudding recipe is a delicious slice of Americana. This dry custard dish is filled with apples, nuts, and so much flavor.

Ingredients

  • 1 large egg
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • ½ cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup granny smith apple or your favorite variety, diced
  • ½ cup nuts chopped, almonds or pecans

Instructions

  • Get out and measure your ingredients.

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Mix together egg and sugar until light and fluffy, either by hand or using a hand mixer.

  • Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt. Combine with sugar mixture.

  • Fold in apples and nuts.

  • Spoon and spread in to a greased baking dish.

  • Bake for 35-40 minutes. Allow to sit for about 5 minutes so the filling settles.

  • Serve while warm.

Notes

Storage: Keeps well at room temperature for 3 days or in the refrigerator covered for a week. Best served fresh. Recommend reheating after storing in the refrigerator and not serving cold.
