- olive oil for cooking
- ½ medium white onion diced
- 1 jalapeño seeded, finely diced
- 4 cloves garlic finely minced
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon ground oregano dried
- 10-12 taco shells
Options
- 1 avocado mashed with salt and lime juice
- 1 tomato diced
- ½ cup Colby jack cheese or cheese of your choice freshly shredded is best
- 1 cup lettuce shredded
- ½ cup green or red salsa
- 1 bunch fresh cilantro garnish, if desired
- 1 lime cut into wedges for serving
Get out and measure your ingredients.
Heat the oil over medium heat and add diced onions. Cook until they become translucent. Add the jalapeño and garlic to the pan and cook for another 2 minutes, or until the garlic becomes fragrant.
Push the veggies to the sides and cook the ground beef in the center and sprinkle in the onion powder, garlic powder, chili powder, cumin powder, salt and oregano.
Stir and cook the beef until browned, then drain off the excess liquid and set aside.
Lay out all of the fillings and assemble the tacos by adding the ground beef, guacamole, tomato, cheese, lettuce, salsa and cilantro.
Serve immediately with lime wedges.
