Grouper Rueben Sandwich

This Grouper Reuben Sandwich is a fun twist on a classic recipe. If you enjoy seafood then this is the recipe that you want to make ASAP!

Ingredients

  • 2 4 oz grouper fillets or you can substitute your favorite white fish
  • pinch salt
  • ½ tablespoon olive oil

Sauce Ingredients

  • 4 slices rye bread
  • ½ cup sauerkraut
  • 2 slices swiss cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Instructions

  • Get out and measure your ingredients.
    Overhead photo of all the ingredients.
  • Place oven rack to about 4" away from the broiler. Preheat broiler to high (550ºF).
  • Place grouper filets in a greased casserole dish.
    Fish fillets placed into a greased casserole dish.
  • Prepare grouper by brushing it with a half tablespoon of oil. Evenly sprinkle salt over filets. Place casserole dish in oven.
    Brushing oil onto the fillets.
  • Cook grouper filets for 9 minutes or until fish is opaque and the edges begin to brown. DO NOT FLIP.
    Grouper cooked inside the oven for 9 minutes.

Sauce Instructions

  • Combine all ingredients in a medium mixing bowl.

  • Depending on your preference, you could add more salt or horseradish to alter the flavor.

  • Stir until blended.
    Ingredients are mixed well.

Assembly Instructions

  • At your workstation place your slices of bread.
    Two slices of bread placed onto a wooden cutting board.
  • Add butter.
    Butter spread onto the two slices of bread.
  • Add sauce.
    Sauce added to the slices.
  • Swiss cheese.
    Swiss cheese placed atop the sauce.
  • Sauerkraut.
    Sauerkraut placed atop the swiss cheese.
  • Grouper filet and remaining slice of bread. Close sandwich.
    Grouper fillet placed atop the Sauerkraut.
  • Generously butter the top and bottom of each sandwich. Heat a pan over medium heat. Add sandwiches.
    Butter is applied to the slices and the sandwich is placed inside a pan.
  • Grill on each side for about 2 minutes or until they are golden brown and cheese is melted.
    Sandwiches are flipped, the slice is now golden brown.
  • Serve immediately. Enjoy every bite!
