Ingredients

Instructions

  • Make the gravy. In the basin of your crockpot, whisk the broth, cream of chicken soup and gravy mix until smooth and set aside.
  • Season the chicken. Season both sides of your chicken with garlic powder, onion salt, pepper and add the chicken to the crockpot.
  • Cook. Cook on low 6 hours or high 3 hours. When the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165°F, turn the crockpot off.
  • Shred the chicken. Once cooked, shred the chicken in the crockpot with 2 forks and mix with the surrounding gravy. Its going to look a bit watery, trust the process! It will thicken and mix well once stirred.
  • Garnish. Garnish with parsley and serve warm. Try it over mashed potatoes!

Notes

  • Skip shredding: This dish is just as good served with the chicken breasts served whole or diced into pieces.
  • Stovetop: Start by searing the chicken and then mix together the gravy ingredients in a Dutch oven. Nestle the chicken in the pot and cook on the stove over low heat until the chicken is done or you can cook it in the oven for 1 ½ hours at 350° F.
  • Add more flavor: Add some chopped garlic and fresh herbs like thyme and sage or some Italian seasoning to the gravy for depth of flavor.
