  • Beat the cream cheese, ½ cup brown sugar and the vanilla together in a bowl, then spread in a quart sized dish. Refrigerate until the apples are cooked and cooled.
  • Cook the apples, butter, 2 tablespoons brown sugar and the apple pie spice until tender. Cool for 10 minutes, then spread over the cream cheese.
  • Drizzle the caramel sauce over the apples and top with toffee bits.
  • Refrigerate until ready to serve.
  • Serve with cookies and crackers.

Notes

  • Serve with vanilla wafers, graham crackers, apple or pear slices.
  • Use full-fat cream cheese that's not too soft or runny to help dip set properly so dip spreads nicely.
  • Be sure to cool the cooked apples before adding them to the dip.
  • For a more refreshing cream cheese layer, try adding 1 tablespoon of lemon juice to the cream cheese mixture before beating it.
  • For a smoother cream cheese layer, use a hand mixer to blend until creamy.
