Cherries in the Snow

- 2 8 oz packages of cream cheese, softened
- 1 ½ cups powdered sugar
- 16 oz whipped topping thawed if frozen
- 15- ounce baked angel food cake crumbled
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- 2 15oz cans of cherry pie filling
In a large bowl with a hand or stand mixer, beat the cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth and well combined.
Add the whipped topping and the almond extract to the cream cheese mixture and fold it in until smooth.
Next, fold in the crumbled angel food cake. It will seem dry at first, but keep folding it in; it will moisten quickly.
Spread your mixture evenly into the bottom of a 9x13 casserole dish.
Top with the cherry pie filling and smooth it out over the top of the cream cheese mixture.
Lightly cover and chill in your refrigerator for about 1 hour.
