Ingredients

  • 2 8 oz packages of cream cheese, softened
  • 1 ½ cups powdered sugar
  • 16 oz whipped topping thawed if frozen
  • 15- ounce baked angel food cake crumbled
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 2 15oz cans of cherry pie filling

Instructions

  • In a large bowl with a hand or stand mixer, beat the cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth and well combined.
  • Add the whipped topping and the almond extract to the cream cheese mixture and fold it in until smooth.
  • Next, fold in the crumbled angel food cake. It will seem dry at first, but keep folding it in; it will moisten quickly.
  • Spread your mixture evenly into the bottom of a 9x13 casserole dish.
  • Top with the cherry pie filling and smooth it out over the top of the cream cheese mixture.
  • Lightly cover and chill in your refrigerator for about 1 hour.
  • Serve and enjoy!

Notes

  • You can freeze this cherry dessert! Thaw it in the refrigerator or enjoy it frozen!
  • Feel free to use your favorite homemade cherry pie filling recipe in place of store-bought.
  • Ensure the angel food cake is gently folded into the cream cheese mixture so it doesn’t become gummy.
