- ¾ teaspoon grenadine or more, see notes
- ½ ounce Sambuca
- ½ ounce Baileys Irish cream
Pour enough grenadine into the bottom of a shot glass to create a thin layer, or place a maraschino cherry in the bottom if preferred.
Hold a small spoon upside down just above the grenadine. Slowly pour the Sambuca over the back of the spoon to create the second layer. Repeat with the Baileys Irish Cream to create the creamy top layer.
Carefully remove the spoon and serve immediately.
- Pour slowly: The slower you pour each ingredient over the back of the spoon, the cleaner and more defined your layers will be.
- Chill the ingredients: Cold Sambuca and Baileys layer more easily and create a smoother, more refreshing shot.
- Use fresh Baileys: Fresh Irish cream pours more smoothly and helps create a beautiful top layer.
- Customize the bottom layer: Use grenadine for a fruity finish or a maraschino cherry for the classic presentation.
- Serve immediately: Layered shots look their best right after they're assembled, before the layers have time to blend together.
- Practice makes perfect: Don't worry if your first few shots aren't perfectly layered. A steady hand and slow pour will give you professional-looking results every time.
