I got this idea from my friend Lora. She made delicious Air Fryer Strawberry Shortcake in the air fryer and I knew I had to try it! I was so amazed at how simple and delicious these homemade shortcakes turned out.
By using the air fryer there is no need to heat up your house in the summer using the oven. Save time and energy and pop these right into your air fryer. Plus cleaning up is easy!
What’s So Great About an Air Fryer
When I first heard about air fryers, I wasn’t sure how they were different from a convection oven. Similar to the convection oven, an air fryer uses a circulating heated air flow to cook your food.
It’s great for people who like crispy and crunchy foods because it really fries your food instead of just baking it. The difference is that an air fryer is using air to fry your food instead of oil.
That means that using an air fryer gives you all the crispy fried taste without all the fat and calories.
What kind of biscuits do I need to buy for Air Fryer Strawberry Shortcake
You can use any type of canned refrigerated biscuits that you have on hand. I like to use the original or homestyle biscuits. I have found that my family doesn’t really enjoy the taste of the butter style biscuits made into shortcakes.
No matter which biscuits you decide to use, your family will enjoy this sweet and fresh dessert.
Can I use frozen strawberries
I haven’t tried this but I imagine you could use frozen strawberries if you let them thaw first. They may not be as nice of slices as fresh strawberries would but you can cut them up into large chunks.
For this recipe you could even use the frozen sliced strawberries in a glaze and just skip the step of adding sugar.
Can I freeze these shortcakes
Yes and no. Technically you can freeze this strawberry shortcake recipe. However, these do not freeze well assembled. So, yes you can freeze the biscuits and the sliced strawberries, but do not freeze them assembled into a shortcake.
Your shortcake will get soggy if it sits to long with the strawberries and whipped cream on top.
How do I store leftover shortcakes
I would store any leftovers in an airtight container or resealable bag. You may not have many leftovers if this dish is popular with your family! The leftovers can be stored for about three days in the fridge. However, they never last that long in my household.
How can I reheat Air Fryer Strawberry Shortcakes recipe
If you don’t want to eat the shortcakes cold, here is an easy way to reheat them in your air fryer. Just add one or two of these cakes back into the air fryer and set it for 350 degrees and cook for three minutes.
