We decided to call this recipe the Simple Slow Cooker Pork Roast because it is so easy to make. Virtually no preparation time and only a few ingredients make this ideal for any occasion. We have added all kinds of things to try and improve this recipe and we could not. Sometimes simple is better.
Simple Slow Cooker Pork Roast
- 2 pounds pork shoulder roast, boneless
- 1 1/2 cups beef broth -
- 1/2 cup dry white wine
- 3 tblsp grainy mustard -
- 1 tblsp thyme, dried, ground or leaves
- 1 tblsp garlic, minced
- 1 tsp salt -
- 1 tsp papper -
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 1/3 cup all-purpose flour -
- 2 tblsp fresh parsley, chopped optional
In bowl whisk together broth, wine and mustard. Arrange onion in bottom of slow cooker. Sprinkle pork with salt and pepper, place pork on top of onion. Pour in broth mixture. Cover and cook on low until pork is tender 6-8 hours. Remove pork to cutting board and remove string. Cut pork into large chunks, remove excess fat and put on a serving platter. Turn slow cooker up to high or place juices in a saucepan on the stove on medium high heat. In small bowl whisk flour with 1/4 cup water. Add flour mixture to slow cooker or saucepan. Cover and cook on high until thickened, about 20 minutes. Spoon sauce and onions over pork when serving.
