For this Glazed Green Beans and Carrots I personally always use chicken broth to make it but if you are a vegan or vegetarian or only have vegetable broth in the house you can easily substitute it!  The taste will still impress you!

I have also, on a few occasions over the years, made this recipe with only carrots or just beans even though I prefer to serve this colorful dish with both.  However, if you are only using beans make sure to reduce the cooking time at the start by 2 minutes so you don’t overcook them!

Ingredients in Glazed Green Beans and Carrots

  • green beans
  • carrots
  • broth
  • butter
  • honey or brown sugar
  • salt
  • pepper

How to make Glazed Green Beans and Carrots

In a large skillet or pot, bring enough salted water to cover your carrots and beans to a boil.  I usually add about 1 teaspoon of salt to the water.

Add carrots and cook for 2 minutes.

Add beans and cook for another 2 minutes.

Drain in a colander in your sink and pat dry with a paper towel as best you can.

In a large skillet add broth and butter.

Bring to a boil and then decrease your temperature to simmer, medium to medium low.

Add beans and carrots and continue simmering for 3 minutes uncovered to reduce the liquid.

Stir regularly.

Add honey or brown sugar, salt and pepper and stir for a minute or so to coat.

Serve immediately and enjoy!

Of course we have a video for you to check out!  Once you see how easy this dish is to make you might just want to give it a try!  I am pretty sure you will be glad you did!
